Kevin has a reputation as someone who likes to be innovative and ahead of his game. As a result, he has organised and spoken at a number of key local, regional and national events around the subjects of e-learning, social networking and local government innovation. He is a regular "Social Media Surgeon" advising community groups on their use of social media.
As a passionate campaigner, Kevin has
also spoken to groups around issues relating to vegetarianism and animal
welfare, representing small and large organisations.
Kevin has featured extensively on local
radio on subjects as diverse as animal welfare, careers advice and
social networking and has also had a number of TV appearances, most
notably on Cyber.Cafe and
North West Tonight.
Kevin currently works under contract, so speaking engagements need to
be clear of works time.
LocalGovCamp YH
Kevin co-organised the first LocalGovCamp in Yorkshire & Humber, bringing together national local authority staff with a passion for innovation.

LearnPod10 & LearnPod11
For two years running Kevin has organised LearnPod, the largest UK unconference on post-16 education.
As part of his work for JISC RSC YH, Kevin worked alongside Rob Wilmot, chair of Doncaster College and founder of the Dot.Com giant "Freeserve". The first event was currated by international author and social media expert Chris Brogan
Swarthmore Centenary Event
Kevin spoke to a large audience of learning enthusiasts about the need for and the implication of social media and innovation in learning.
The talk took place alongside Hilary Benn MP, then the Secretary of State for the enviornment. Mr Benn later described the talk as "fantastically enjoyable."
Learning Revolution Yorkshire
As part of his contracted employment, Kevin helped organise a major conference on the future of informal adult learning. Speakers included the Chief Executive of NIACE and Rt Hon Rosie Winterton MP (then the Minister for the Region)
Shropcamp
As an organiser of LocalGovCamp Yorkshire & Humber, Shropcamp organiser Ben Proctor from Likeaword asked for Kevin's advise during the the development of ShropCamp, Shropshire's first ever community technology unconference. Kevin also attended the event, leading discussions around disruption as a positive in local government.
Social Media Surgeries
Kevin has been an advisor at social media surgeries from the outset of their Yorkshire life, advising at Leeds, Huddersfield and Bradford, where he was part of the team initally creating them. Social Media Surgeries allow community groups to get free advise on using social media tools.
